I currently teach AQA and Edexcel for A Level Maths, Further Maths and Economics as well as GCSE Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics and English Literature. I can also teach IB HL Maths and Economics, having achieved a 7 in both. My students currently range from 9 to 17 years old, and I can teach students from Year 4 to Year 13.
I am an energetic, resourceful and experienced tutor, with years of experience across subject areas, and over 20 regular students per week. Since discovering my interest in mathematics and statistics at 9 and my passion for tutoring at 14 while coaching chess, I have never looked back, turning my curiosity and skills into my career. I believe my youth, combined with expertise, provide me with a unique understanding both of the art of teaching and the challenges faced by young people under the current specifications for GCSE, A Level and IB. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing chess competitively, having played for England Juniors, and other mind sports which allow me to use my deductive and logistical skills to compete with others. In addition, I enjoy playing football, basketball and table tennis as well as going to the gym. These hobbies allow me to do what I enjoy as well as keep myself mentally and physically fit and spend time with friends.
I specialise in Mathematics and Statistics, which form the main component of my degree within the Statistical Department at UCL. My love for mathematics and statistics began in Year 4 when I first sat the Junior Maths Challenge, and by Year 6 I had completed and scored 98% on exams equivalent to the algebra and statistics component of Maths A Level. Since then, my passion has only grown, recently writing an extended essay on using Lagrange multipliers to derive demand functions for Giffen goods, where I used advanced mathematics to analyse strange economic phenomena. My passion for tutoring Mathematics and Statistics is based on my ability to explain complex concepts in very simple steps; focusing on giving my students such a clear understanding of a topic that they need not remember anything, as they understand it so well, which is extremely rewarding to see.
My resourcefulness and ingenuity with technology allow me to teach my students seamlessly online while keeping them excited and engaged. I often prefer to share my screen with students, using Word or Excel to present my ideas as clearly as possible, while also teaching them key presentation skills or graphing skills in the process. Moreover, I believe in active learning, whereby I will constantly ask questions about the topic in question to the student to check for their clear and coherent understanding. In addition, I create a positive, happy and calm teaching environment, with plenty of positive reinforcement, to ensure my students feel happy and supported while learning lots in the process.
